Question
The Kansas Board of Healing Arts is now requiring one hour of “Category III” continuing education on the topic of opioids. Does KAMMCO offer any education that would help me meet this criterion?
Answer
The KBHA defines Category III continuing education as an education activity that also meets the requirements of either Category I or Category II and also meets at least one of the following content requirements:
- Acute or chronic pain management;
- the appropriate prescribing of opioids; or
- the use of prescription drug monitoring programs.
KAMMCO partners with Med-IQ to offer AMA PRA Category 1 Credit on all courses available through the website. There is a wide variety of courses available, and insureds are enrolled in classrooms based on their specialties. All of the classrooms offer an opioid or pain management topic that meets the category III requirement from the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.
As an added bonus, all eligible insured members who have a policy with KAMMCO receive a 2% premium credit on the next January 1, 2023, or subsequent renewal for taking a Med-IQ risk management course.
